Elham Zandvakili
Dr. Elham Zandvakili (Dr. EZ) is a humanistic educator, lyricist, music maker and creator and a yogi with seventeen years of experiences teaching language and culture.
She is a teacher who believes in a humanistic approach to education and considers collaboration as the key to learning and understanding.
She received her Ph.D. in Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies (TECS) with a concentration in Languages, Literacies and Cultures (LLC) from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She is an affiliate research scientist at the Gordon Institute for Advanced Study working with Professor Edmund Gordon of Teachers College, Columbia University who is one of the preeminent African American scholars in this country. She had the fortunate opportunity to participate, assist and present in a national conference at Teachers College entitled, Human Variance and Assessment for Learning.
Dr. EZ believes in the power of yoga and music to eliminate the barriers in learning. She believes in the arts as a way of reaching and encouraging students to put aside their anxieties and fears and triggering their positive emotional and affective reactions. She believes that yoga and music clears the way for students to explore and enjoy the cognitive challenges of learning a new language.
She received her yoga teacher training certificate to complete her studies in yoga.
