Each of the 7 chapters in this book contains the following sections:
Section 1 is yoga, section 2 is music and lyrics, section 3 is reading a short story, section 4 is syntax notes (grammar notes), section 5 is the museum of reincarnation where learners meet famous people from history (Some of the content of the museum may not be available because of copy right issues) , section 6 is conversation creation, section 7 is cultural notes, section 8 is creative writing, section 9 is a quick quiz and section 10 is the end notes including transcriptions of the listening part in the museum, the models of the conversations and the vocabulary list. These sections are interconnected, and all based upon a song written and produced for each chapter.
Yoga is the first section in the EZ method because when the mind and body are at peace, language flows as easily as a stream down a mountain. The EZ method begins with putting the mind and body at ease through the practice of Yoga. The wisdom of the millennia is in the different poses that are physical archetypes of the human experience. Breathing and practicing the posture relaxes the body and relieves the mind and sets an intention for being in the world. Music and Lyrics is the second section in the EZ method and students learn vocabulary and syntax as they learn the lyrics to the song. Music is a universal experience valued and practiced by all cultures. Lyrics are a natural accompaniment to music and the two are found universally among cultures. Music blends with lyrics (spoken language) in a seamless way.
Section three is the application of the critical thinking questions: what, when, why, how, who and where to a short story based on the lyrics in the chapter. The short story with its categories of the past, present, and future merge and transform each other while generating an infinite set of possibilities. Section number four, syntax, is studying the ways in which words and/or combinations of words give meaning to sentences in a language. Syntax deepens our understanding of language through exploring and using the arrangements of words in sentences.
Section five, a visit to the museum of reincarnation and spirituality is an imaginary visit to museum that does not exist. The museum consists of a set of galleries/rooms dedicated to a famous person from the past who has an important message to the language learner. The famous person speaks through a portrait to the language learner. The famous person shares wisdom and advice to the language learner and brings the past into the present.
Section six is having the language learner create and engage in a casual conversation. Spoken language comes alive in conversation in the creation and changing of meanings in casual conversations.
Section seven and eight are activities in which students learn thinking skills that are applicable in a wide range of settings. Section nine is cultural notes that connect current and historical events analyzed using SPARC (setting, participants, activity, reasons, and conclusion). This analytic tool gives students a framework to apply to storytelling in general. After they have absorbed this frame, students will have available a framework for analyzing the basic structure of stories that can be applied in a range of contexts. Section number ten is creative writing in which students applies the critical thinking questions: what, when, where, why, how and who and create their own stories/lyrics to be posted. Section 9 is a quick quiz related to new vocabulary, syntax, and cultural notes. The last section is ten which is the end notes including transcriptions of the listening part in the museum, the models of the conversations and the vocabulary list.
