EZ Model of Language Learning

A multi-modal method of instruction

This EZ book and album is a multi-modal method of instruction that includes yoga, music and lyrics, short stories, learning syntax, the Museum of Reincarnation, a conversation, current cultural events, critical thinking, and an assessment. These activities are a blend of antiquity, modernity, fantasy, and best practices in the teaching of English as a second and foreign language. An album of original music and images accompany and enrich the activities in the book. As students explore book and album, they acquire a sense of agency and control of mind and body. Anxieties and fears fade away as students learn the EZ way.

Learning is a fun experience that all can enjoy when  learning a second language such as yoga, storytelling, and music. The old days of drill and killing interest and motivation is in the rear-view mirror of Natalia’s little red car.

The book tells  the story of Natalia’s growth of mind from her first adolescent party to a mature young woman determined to find social justice. This seven-chapter story of adolescent growth  are set to rhythmic music and the reader pats her feet to the beat of Natalia’s adventures. As students learn the lyrics to the music in each chapter, she is practicing a second language. A new yoga pose is part of each chapter, and students experience increasing awareness of the power of their body to the fun rhythms of the music. The music are audio files students can listen to as often as they need to by simply clicking on the link. Each chapter takes the learner to the Museum of Reincarnation where the Martin Luther King, Jr., Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Ludwig van Beethoven,Hatshepsut,George Washington, Florance Nightingale are waiting to share the wisdom of their worlds. The important things are not all in the past, and each chapter includes mini segments about popular culture that are of interests to young people. Beat the drum, pat your feet, and have a book party with Dr. EZ.

This book and method are aimed at meeting the dynamic and developmental needs of young people in the throes of physical, social, intellectual, and cultural change. While in the midst of these changes, young people are searching for identity, novelty, excitement and achievement. The factory method of manufacturing adolescents and their instruction aligned in rows and tied to the curriculum frameworks of their teachers is boring and outmoded. In the post-corvid 21st century students will require a different set of competencies and skills. The EZ method is designed to meet the developmental needs of young people in a changing and dynamic world.
